I came upon this beautiful hooded merganser quietly floating in a pond. And I realized she epitomized the spirit of winter.
In the natural world, winter is a time of intense quiet when nature turns inward to rest and rejuvenate.
Perhaps the merganser was a reminder to slow the pace of life and slip into the quiet more and more. To welcome the dreams and visions of our hearts, and listen for the whispers of what’s to come.
As I watched the lovely little duck rest, I took a breath and slipped into the winter silence.
