This charming little fellow popped up not far from shore…a pied-billed grebe. As I watched him paddle around and dive for food, I had a thought.
Though it was an ordinary day, this little bird appeared to be thoroughly enjoying himself. I suspect that animals relish the simple pleasures of life. Quite the contrast to the serious aspects of myself that often overlook pleasure in the ordinary.
So many opportunities for enjoyment during the day. Warm sun, beautiful trees, a delicious meal, time with a friend, a laughable moment…the list is endless.
In my heart of hearts, I know that life’s experiences are not meant to be mundane. Each moment contains opportunities for grace and joy and fulfillment.
Perhaps I, too, could learn to relish each and every moment.
Just like the little grebe…
