There they sat in their nest…two little tree swallows. Awaiting their parents’ return with food, they were the picture of patience.
As I watched them, I had a thought. These little birds couldn’t hurry the food delivery. Or leave the nest before they could fly. Everything would happen in perfect timing.
I’ve noticed there’s no rush in the natural world. The sun doesn’t strive to rise and set faster than it did yesterday. And trees don’t hurry to drop their leaves sooner than they did the previous fall. They wait for the Earth’s perfect timing.
I suspect that waiting is a natural part of life, allowing for more thoughtful and guided decisions. As a human living in a hurry up world, patience can be elusive. But I find inspiration in the pace of nature.
Natural timing…I’m grateful for the reminder.
