For what seemed like a long time, I watched this lone seagull perched on a rocky shore. For me, a quiet place for introspection, for him, his natural home.
And I wondered…does he begin each day this way, staring at the ocean?
Watching the giant curls of water endlessly pounding the shore, the gull and I were both lost in the waves...mesmerized.
When I find myself mesmerized in the natural world, life slows and time disappears. Maybe that’s the draw of the ocean…beautiful, mysterious and hypnotic.
Jacques Cousteau once said, ‘The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.’
And for a brief time, the gull and I rested in that net of wonder…and I was enchanted.
