I never know who I’ll meet when I wander…be it animal, plant, or human. Not long ago, I encountered a young mother and her 8-year-old son standing on a bridge overlooking a lovely lake.
The mother quietly shared that her son had emotional and cognitive challenges. As we chatted, I watched the boy staring at this beautiful green heron…both were silent and still.
The boy’s mother commented that her son seemed completely content only in nature. She brought him to the Earth as often as she could.
And I was reminded of how much comfort and solace the natural world offers.
Like the young mother’s love for her son, the Earth’s love is without judgment or conditions...simply a forever, no matter what, unwavering love for us all, exactly as we are.
I smiled and appreciated the deep-hearted trio…the boy, his mother, and the heron.
What a gift…
