I will not soon forget my time on Iona…a hauntingly beautiful island, emanating much peace and tranquility. They say she casts a spell on all who step upon her shores. Iona will always be in my heart.
With her rich and colorful history, Iona is unlike any place I’ve ever experienced. Perhaps her ancient stones hold the old stories of the island. If they could speak, they would share tales of joy and hardship and challenge, and the remarkable strength of the people who paved the way for those who followed.
As I spent my days wandering through fields and meadows and along the lovely shoreline, I sensed a timeless quality to life on the island. I found many secret places to sit and reflect and rest. I complete my time feeling settled and content.
As I leave Iona, my journey continues on to the Isle of Mull for a wildlife retreat. A chance to become better acquainted with Scotland’s nature…an opportunity I’m very much looking forward to.
So with a profound sense of gratitude for all she has given me, I leave Iona, knowing I will return someday…
