A few days ago, I watched this tiny frog climb a huge tree. I know he was designed to do that, with his sticky fingers and toes securing him to the bark, but I was still impressed. And I wondered, was he afraid the first time he faced this challenge?
As I continued walking I thought about some of the challenges I’ve faced over my lifetime. Seemingly impossible tasks, yet accomplished. How did that happen? I’m certain it wasn’t a lack of fear.
Perhaps it was something else…perhaps a knowing that arises in each of us in those moments that test our courage. A deep inner knowing that the task is not ours alone.
That pure faith…faith that there is an unseen force that bolsters us, and supports us, and propels us forward despite overwhelming fear.
Maybe it was true for the little frog as well, as he faced his first climb.
I’m grateful to him for the reminder of the true source of courage…
