A couple of weeks ago I watched this turtle resting on a log. With bits of mud still clinging to his shell, I suspected he had recently emerged from the bottom of the pond where he spent his winter.
The gradual warming of the water had awakened him. And I wondered if he was glad to return to the surface and begin life again. Or if he remembered life before hibernation.
To me, turtles have so much personality. Maybe he was thinking about his family and friends, and perhaps planning a turtle reunion on a nearby log. A chance to catch up after the long winter.
Who knows? Perhaps my imagination has once again overtaken me.
As I enjoyed the turtle and the sunshine, I relished the change of season and anticipated all the experiences yet to come.
Then I grinned…and wished my turtle friend many happy adventures.
