I spotted this squirrel scampering across branches feasting on leaf buds. He was selective in his munching, and didn’t appear to be affecting the tree’s bloom. And I suspect the tree didn’t mind.
I find it fascinating how interdependent the beings of the natural world are. Over time, this tree absorbed sunlight and water and nutrients in order to grow, and in his maturity he was providing food and housing for small creatures.
And perhaps it was a squirrel who planted this tree years ago as he buried nuts for the winter. And now his squirrel descendant was enjoying the fruits.
Nature beings live in harmony with their surroundings, taking only what they need. I admire them and aspire to be more like them in their effortless honoring of the Earth.
I am so inspired…
