I watched this kestrel streak across the sky and then stop suddenly, rapidly flapping his wings. With full force, he dove and snatched his prey from a field…likely a large insect or a small rodent. And then he rested.
I remembered that kestrels are the smallest of the falcons, but their strength and ferocity in the hunt rivals the larger raptors. Amazing…
And I had a thought. Maybe this fierce little bird didn’t know he was smaller than the other birds of prey. Maybe no one had ever told him he wasn’t as big or as powerful or as adept as the larger birds.
And I had a wondering. All the subtle messages in our human world that suggest that we’re less than or incapable or not enough or unworthy…what if we didn’t believe them?
What if instead we listened to that quiet, honoring voice within us to know who we truly are…powerfully loved beings capable of fulfilling on all we are meant to accomplish.
Just like the kestrel…
