It was a quiet morning on the wildlife refuge yesterday. As I slowly crossed a bridge, this weasel popped out of the brush. From the look on his face, I knew he was as surprised to see me as I was to see him.
As I watched him, I had a realization...I was a visitor in his home. The natural world is home to so many plant and animal beings. As the weasel scurried away, I was reminded to wander quietly and to tread lightly.
I recognize that being in someone’s home is an honor. And it carries responsibility… responsibility to walk carefully and to leave no trace of my wanderings.
The natural world is a very beautiful and special place.
It's such an honor to visit…
