As I wandered just after dawn, I realized that early morning is my favorite time to walk. As the natural world awakened, I was serenaded by honking geese overhead and chirping birds flitting among tree branches. A sense of excitement filled the air as a new day had begun.
I spotted this beautiful heron standing in a field searching for his breakfast. Hunger is a powerful force in the natural world. With no restaurants or grocery stores, animals have no choice but to hunt. And I knew this bird hunted in rain and snow and wind and heat and drought.
With quiet dignity he gracefully moved through his day…no complaints. I admired him for his strength and persistence and fortitude. And he naturally trusted that he was completely loved and cared for.
That’s who I want to be…
