I watched him resting in my back yard…a beautiful Wilson’s warbler. And, to me, he appeared cheerful and content…happy to be exactly where he was.
And I remembered a quotation I read, ‘Life is like a mirror. If you smile at it, it smiles back.’ I suspect optimism is a choice, perhaps a conscious practice of focusing on what’s going well rather than on what doesn’t meet our human expectations.
I realize my human self can easily get caught in negativity and worry, and forget that life is a rich and varied journey that’s meant to be enjoyed.
I smiled at the warbler, grateful for the reminder to focus on the good…
