Five years…the time it takes an eagle to transform from hatchling to maturity. Longer than most birds. I thought about that as I watched this juvenile bald eagle resting in a tree.
Mature eagles are the most powerful of the raptors. Perhaps the extra maturation time is spent learning to use immense power wisely.
Connected to their divine nature, animals use their power to feed and protect, not to intimidate or to dishonor or to impose their will on others. In nature, animals take only what they need, respecting other beings and honoring their natural home.
In a human world where power is often misunderstood and misused, I find solace and inspiration in nature.
So much to learn from the natural world…
