I smiled as I watched this beautiful egret dip his beak into a pond, fishing for his breakfast. In that moment of hunger, he appeared unconcerned about his muddy white feathers. Preening would come later.
And I had a thought...sometimes life is messy. I must admit that my human self would prefer a neat and tidy existence, free from challenges and difficulties.
And then I’m reminded that messiness is a part of the life I signed up for. A rich and varied journey filled with joy and sorrow and satisfaction and disappointment and challenges and victories.
Each situation, regardless of how it seems, is designed to foster growth along with a myriad of blessings.
In my heart of hearts, I know I wouldn’t trade this life for anything.
I walked on, grateful to the egret for the reflection…
