I spotted them resting at the edge of a stream…a female wood duck and her chicks. So charming.
To me, wood ducks are amazing creatures. They nest high in tree cavities, and all their eggs hatch at once.
And just one day after the babies hatch, the mother duck stands at the base of the tree and calls the chicks from the nest. These day-old ducklings leap to the ground from heights of 50 feet or more and land unharmed. Then they join their mother who leads them to water.
As I watched the little family, I had a thought. These little ducklings took a leap of faith. No hesitation.
Perhaps a reminder that life is about following your heart and taking bold chances.
So inspiring…the natural world.
