A few days ago, this beautiful kestrel landed nearby and stayed for a moment. Over time I’ve been fortunate to encounter many nature beings…a brief opportunity to peer into their world.
Then I noticed that the kestrel was holding an insect in his right talon…a snack perhaps.
And I thought about how intentional the kestrel’s life must be. His very survival depends upon his laser focus on hunting, eating, sleeping, and caring for himself.
And I wondered…how intentional am I? How often do I do things without much thought or focus, reverting to automatic pilot? Perhaps more often than I realize.
I suspect my days would be richer and more fulfilling if I were to act with deeper intention and focus. Like the kestrel.
Something for me to think about as the new year begins…
