This young great horned owl stared down from his perch. His eyes bored through me, daring me to move closer.
And I smiled. I suspected that the owl was trying himself out as the powerful hunter he was becoming.
I find the animal world so intriguing. They’re born knowing exactly who they are, and they can’t help but be themselves.
I’m a bit envious, as I spend my days in the ongoing human quest to discover true identity. But I suspect all is as it should be, and I can appreciate my own journey.
Having said all that, I still felt a twinge of envy for the owl’s life. I imagined flying, and perching on a branch high above the world’s chaos, never wondering what I am to contribute to the planet.
As I turned away, I sighed. It’s not that I would trade my two-legged journey, but sometimes it’s fun to imagine….
