I approached her slowly and quietly, hoping she wouldn’t fly off. And as she sat, this beautiful harrier shifted her gaze back and forth from the field to me. Perhaps she was intrigued by my intense interest, safe in the knowing she could take flight at any moment.
And I wondered…what did she see when she looked at me? Did she view me as an outsider, or as a fellow creature who shared her habitat?
There’s something so captivating about animals. Many of their qualities mirror our more admirable human characteristics. Courage, wisdom, authenticity, persistence, curiosity, trust…the list is endless.
I was once again reminded that we’re not that different from the beings in the natural world.
And I say thank you to the lovely harrier for the reminder…
