I smiled as I watched this lovely wood duck floating in a pond. So beautiful, so graceful…
But in my mind, wood ducks are more than just beautiful. They’re amazing beings. They’re equipped with strong claws that grip bark, allowing them to perch on branches. They nest high in tree cavities, and all their eggs hatch at once.
And…just one day after hatching, the mother duck stands at the base of the tree and calls the chicks from the nest. These day-old ducklings leap to the ground from heights of 50 feet or more and land unharmed. Then they join their mother who leads them to water. Amazing…
As I continued wandering, I had a thought. Perhaps there’s a message for me in the duck story about taking that leap…that leap of faith. I suspect it’s time to shift from thinking and analyzing to following my heart.
And like the wood duck, when I leap I know I can trust…all is well.
