Yesterday I watched two squirrels chase each other, and perform death defying leaps from tree to tree. I couldn’t help but chuckle at their unabashed playfulness. Maybe they had nests to repair and acorns to collect, yet they took time out to simply have fun.
Sometimes we humans are so busy with our responsibilities that we forget to have fun. I suspect that our true nature is light-hearted and full of delight and joy. It’s so evident in young children.
I believe our light-hearted ways have simply been clouded over by our misplaced devotion to duty and hard work. Of course there's a time for work, but there's also a time for play.
Perhaps it's time for me to re-examine my relationship with fun. And time to make room for much more delight in my life...
