As I watched this solitary egret hunt for food, I had a wondering. Why do some animals spend their lives alone? It seems like such a sad existence. The scientific explanation is that certain animals need their own territory in order to find enough food to survive.
But I suspect there’s another reason for the solitary life. I’ve heard it said that animals serve as teachers for humanity. Geese remind us of the importance of family and community, while deer model kindness and gentleness.
Maybe solitary animals like this egret are a reminder to take time each day to be alone in the quiet. To turn inward to find our Divine connection. To find that quiet space where all is well and we remember who we truly are.
I appreciate the reminder from this beautiful creature...
