As I wandered early one morning, I spotted this pileated woodpecker searching for bugs. So enthusiastic…
And I had a wondering. Does he ever tire of his chores…hunting for food, preening, nest building, attending to his family? But as I watched him, his enthusiasm never waned.
When I was a young child, no task was a chore. It was just another adventure. At what point did I decide that some activities are drudgery and some are fun?
Perhaps animals know something we don’t. Maybe they see every task as a joyful part of their day.
So…maybe ordinary activities like cleaning and laundry and yard work actually afford us an opportunity to experience happiness and joy. Perhaps all that’s needed is a shift in philosophy.
Something to ponder…inspired by a beautiful woodpecker.
