I spotted movement ahead on the path, and realized it was a little bird bathing in a rut filled with rainwater. As I watched him happily splashing in his pool, I had a thought.
To me, it was just a puddle, but to the bird, it was a swimming hole. A welcome oasis where he could drink and bathe…a delightful discovery. And I realized our perspectives were quite different.
And I had a wondering. How often do I take the time to consider someone else’s viewpoint? In my humanness, I can be so certain that my opinions are correct, and my way is the right way.
Maybe the little bird’s presence was a reminder to view life’s situations from various perspectives. Perhaps the key to compassion and understanding and cooperation.
Something to ponder…inspired by a lovely sparrow.
