She appeared so serene floating among her duck friends…a beautiful female wood duck.
As I watched her glide effortlessly across the pond, I remembered something I read. While appearing calm above the surface, ducks are actually paddling furiously under the water to keep themselves upright and steady.
And I realized I have some commonalities with the little duck. Though I may appear calm and serene, there are times when I, too, am paddling furiously just to keep myself upright and steady.
And just like the lovely duck, I rely on the company of family and friends for support.
Perhaps we’re not so different after all…
As the little duck disappeared into the reeds, I wished her well.
I smiled and wandered on…
