Imagine being able to fly. To have the ability to flap your wings and propel yourself anywhere you wish to go. I thought about that as I watched this lovely butterfly flit among the flowers.
If I could fly, where would I go? What would I see? How would my life be different?
And then a thought took hold. This little butterfly wasn’t watching me, or wondering what his life would be like if he could walk on two legs. He was content just being himself, enjoying his butterfly day.
I suspect animals don’t long for things or wish for circumstances to be different. They simply move from moment to moment, being who they are.
So as the butterfly disappeared into the trees, I laid down my wishes and wonderings. And in that moment, I appreciated just being a human on a warm summer afternoon.
A life lesson…inspired by a beautiful butterfly.
