Such a charming little bird…a lovely chickadee.
I watched him flit among the trees, so joyful and energetic. And I was reminded of a young boy I once met in the forest.
A sturdy little fellow, brimming with enthusiasm…his parents called him Noah. As Noah excitedly recounted his adventures with birds and squirrels and a deer, he held out his snack bag, offering to share with me.
I was struck by his natural generosity. And I realized it was more than pretzels he was sharing. In actuality he was sharing himself…his unbridled joyful spirit.
And I had a thought. Perhaps true generosity isn’t about material things. Maybe it’s about offering ourselves with an open heart and compassionate attention.
Children and animals…my greatest teachers.
