I watched a group of ducks float a bit too close to this heron’s fishing spot, and a ruckus erupted. The heron squawked loudly, firmly warning them away. I admired him…he had such presence, unafraid to express himself.
And I had a thought. This long-legged creature was fully alive, with no pretense, no holding back.
I suspect that animals experience life fully, with nothing lukewarm about their actions. Maybe their whole-hearted approach to living is the key to thriving, rather than merely surviving.
Perhaps my own life would be richer and more vibrant if I were to fully engage in all that I do, no holding back.
I appreciated the thoughts…inspired by a beautiful heron.
