I watched this lovely wren sing her heart out, and I smiled. Darwin theorized that sometimes birds sing simply for their own enjoyment, and we now know that’s true.
As I listened to the little bird, I had a thought. Sometimes I’m so busy with chores and errands and responsibilities, that I forget to enjoy.
So I sat for a while and breathed the fresh air, and relished the cool breeze, and enjoyed the bird’s lovely melody. And surrounded by beautiful shades of green and the sounds of the Earth’s summer, my body relaxed.
And the little bird and I shared some moments of pure enjoyment.
What a gift…
