I nearly missed him…a lovely red-shouldered hawk perched high in a tree. So quiet and still…I was enthralled. And I had a wondering.
How many times in my ordinary day have I walked past a person, a tree, an animal, or a plant and not even seen them?
So absorbed in my own thoughts, my surroundings became invisible. And I missed an opportunity to connect with another being and experience one of life’s rich moments.
I suspect that each encounter is important, regardless of duration or species. Perhaps an opportunity to strengthen the ties between us.
As I wandered on, I made a conscious decision to pay more attention to all that life offers. And to connect whenever possible.
I’m grateful to the hawk for the inspiration…
