I suspect it’s not easy being a hawk, though he made it look effortless. As I watched him quietly resting, I thought about challenges…his and mine.
This beautiful bird survived predators, relentless rains, brutal winds, oppressive heat, and bitter cold. And in each moment, he adapted and changed and moved forward. Remarkable resilience…
I must admit that in my humanness, my response to challenges is not always graceful. Though I eventually weather the predicament, angst and worry often accompany me on the journey.
Watching the hawk, I was reminded of an old Zen proverb. ‘Obstacles don’t block the path, they are the path.’
I suspect that all that arises, easy or difficult, is intended to draw us closer to the Divine. And asking for assistance from the seen and unseen is a key to thriving.
