A young girl recently asked me why we have mosquitos. Good question. I learned that mosquitos pollinate plants and are a critical food source for many other animals. Perfectly designed to contribute to the web of life.
Wise beings have suggested that nothing is without purpose, and no one life is more important than another.
As I wandered yesterday, I watched a beautiful common yellowthroat flit around a wetland. And I had a thought.
This small bird was contributing to the planet. As she enjoyed her ordinary bird day, she was helping to enhance the health and well-being of her community.
Dispersing seeds, recycling nutrients back into the soil, keeping the ecosystem in balance…her life was benefitting us all.
In my heart of hearts, I know every being matters…I appreciated the reminder.
